Flambards Theme Park
A beloved Cornish institution — rides, the award-winning Victorian Village, and science exhibitions near the Lizard Peninsula.
Cornwall Family Life POV
Our Honest Family Perspective on Flambards
Flambards was one of our favourite places to visit as a family. The Victorian Village was genuinely fascinating — a full-scale recreation of a Victorian street that children find surprisingly engaging. The rides covered a good range of thrill levels, from gentle rides for the youngest visitors to more exciting options for older children and adults. A Cornish institution that is sadly now closed.
Overview
Flambards was one of Cornwall's original theme parks, located near Helston in the heart of the Lizard Peninsula. Established in 1976, the park grew over the decades to offer a wide range of rides, attractions, and exhibitions. The centrepiece was the award-winning Victorian Village, a full-scale indoor recreation of a Victorian street, complete with shops, houses, and period artefacts. The park also featured a range of thrill rides, a science exhibition, and various family attractions.

History
Flambards was established in 1976 by the Mansell family, who developed the site of a former country house estate near Helston into one of Cornwall's first purpose-built theme parks. The Victorian Village exhibition was developed with the assistance of historians and museum professionals, and won numerous awards for its authenticity and educational value. Sadly, the theme park closed in 2024 and sold off much of its memorabilia in 2025.
